Silk and Silk Scarf Care
-

How to care for silk: washing and ironing. We share tips on how to keep your silk scarves looking luxurious for longer. | DUA.LOOK
Silk is one of the most luxurious fabrics in the world. It is valued for its softness, natural sheen, and lightness, and when properly cared for, it can last for many years. DUA.LOOK scarves, handcrafted works of art, can be passed down from generation to generation. They require exceptionally gentle care. We recommend dry cleaning. If dry cleaning is not possible, we suggest a few other options.
The most important cleaning rules:
- do not use strong detergents or bleach — they can damage the natural silk fibre;
- avoid drying in direct sunlight — silk may lose its sheen and weaken;
- perfume vapours can damage silk — allow perfume to dry before getting dressed.
Silk scarf washing guide (washing silk, hand washing at home):
- wash by hand in warm water (up to 30–35 ºC) with a mild detergent;
- do not leave the scarf in water for more than a few minutes;
- at the end of washing, add a little conditioner — it will soften the silk;
- never wring — it is best to gently pat dry with a towel.
Silk ironing tips:
- iron on the reverse side while the scarf is still slightly damp, using the "Silk" setting;
- avoid high temperatures — they can dull the sheen, shrink or damage the fabric;
- minor creases can easily be removed by hanging the silk in the bathroom — steam and moisture will do the work naturally.
Silk is a delicate yet luxurious fabric. Proper care is the key to longevity. By following these guidelines, you will ensure that your silk scarves remain elegant, lustrous, and durable for many years to come.
